[Maybe she shouldn't have responded. It's such a private moment. But Makoto can, for all her foresight and planning, be an impulsive woman at times, and that's what gets her calling out from the Leaf.]

[If the outro weren't so quiet, Claudia might have missed Makoto's response entirely. As it is, by the time she finds her Leaf and answers, her laptop has shuffled on to another song, the same singer doing the bestworst breakup song in existence. (That one's on a different album, at least, so it probably shouldn't add to the inadvertent feelspunch.]
It's not about whether it was any good. [It's about the fact that Claudia Does Not Want to sing in front of an audience. She knows her strengths, and she is not at all convinced that's one of them.
But the second part does get her eyebrows going up.] Really. I would not necessarily have expected that one to gain ground in Japan, especially when it took another three albums for BNL to really get their due stateside.
[She shrugs] BNL? We just called them the Naked Ladies at my house. My dad was a fan of them. He would always sing the song about having a million dollars?
Barenaked Ladies, in full. Canadian band. "If I Had a Million Dollars" is on the same album, like... two tracks later? I don't have the whole thing downloaded, so I can't double-check for sure.
[Claudia's smile fades a little.] I don't remember who brought it home, in my case. Could've been my parents or either of my siblings. I was like five.
